With the advent of summer, the Kranz Hill Farm is booming with produce. We started giving out tomatoes this week, and eggplant and peppers are just around the corner. The wild raspberries around our fields started producing, and should yield for two or three more weeks. Our summer squash plants are only a couple weeks away from production, and the beans just a week after that. Summer’s here, and with summer come the year’s richest harvests.
For those who missed the opportunity in the spring, or who are just hearing about us for the first time, now’s a good chance to buy a share in our CSA. We are offering shares, beginning the week of July 5th and continuing through mid-November, a total of 17 or 18 weeks.
We offer two sizes of share, regular and small. The regular share should be enough for a family of four to six, and costs $500. The small share, recommended for couples or small families, costs $340.
All of our produce is grown without the use of synthetic herbicides, pesticides, or fertilizers. Shares are selected and picked up at the farm, either on Tuesday or Friday between 4 and 6:30 PM.
It’s a pleasant place to visit, with donkeys, goats, chickens, friendly conversation, and lovely vistas. We’re hidden over a hill beside New London Road, about a mile north of Newark and south of Pennsylvania.
