Update on the potato planting

The potatoes are sprouting!  Colorado Potato Beetles are a common pest on our farm.  In past years we have spent hours searching the plants for little orange eggs, picking off the bloated larva, and squashing the adults.  This year we are putting row cover on the plants, in the hopes that the beetles will be unable to find the plants.   [...]

Now We Wait

Thanks to everyone who came out on Saturday.  We planted about 200 pounds of potatoes.  The last 50 pounds were planted Monday afternoon.  Planting potatoes is always delightful.  There is just something wonderful about it!  Usually the seeds we plant look very different from the vegetables we are hoping to harvest.  You would never guess that a broccoli seed had anything to do with [...]
